Aqua New Jersey customers in Chesterfield, Hamilton, Hamilton Square, Robbinsville, and Windsor could experience the issues through Sunday, June 4, the company said.

The issues began on Thursday, June 1, after a pump malfunction in one of the wells, Aqua NJ said in a statement.

"The team is working around the clock to address this issue...," the statement reads. "We anticipate water pressure will improve significantly by tomorrow (Saturday) evening and will fully recover by Monday morning."

Robbinsville's Sharon Elementary School was forced to close Friday, while Pond Road Middle School, and Robbinsville High were dismissed early, township officials said. The Amazon distribution warehouse and other businesses in the Matrix Business Park also was forced to close.

Robbinsville Township Mayor David Fried expressed frustration with Aqua NJ on social media.

Aqua NJ apologized for the inconvenience and reminded customers that:

  • Your water has and continues to be safe to use and consume, despite low pressure.
  • You can help the system pressure recover faster by conserving water.
  • Please discontinue non-essential water activities and reduce water usage by taking shorter showers, stopping lawn irrigation and minimizing the use of washers and dishwashers.
